What is KenyaPlus?
A free trip-planning site for Kenya. It helps you choose places, build a day-by-day plan, check whether the plan is realistic, and estimate a budget. Read more about us.
Can I book hotels, parks or transport here?
No. KenyaPlus doesn't sell or hold bookings. When you're ready, book directly with the hotel, park, airline or operator — each trip summary lists what to confirm with them first.
What do Verified, Live, Estimated and Unconfirmed mean?
Every fact carries one of these labels so you can see how much to rely on it. Verified means we checked it against a named source on a recorded date; Estimated means we calculated it from stated assumptions (like road times); Unconfirmed means we don't have enough evidence yet. Details on how we check information.
How accurate are the road times?
They are KenyaPlus estimates, labelled Estimated: from openrouteservice road routes plus an allowance for stops, not live traffic. Real journeys can be faster on good highways or much slower in traffic, on rough roads or after rain. The assumptions are shown next to every estimate.
Why don't you show prices for everything?
Because we won't guess. We only show a fee when we hold a record of it, with its label and the date it was checked. For everything else, the budget uses the figures you enter.
Does KenyaPlus use AI?
Sometimes, and always labelled. “Suggest a plan” and Ask Kenya can use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, when it's switched on; otherwise they use KenyaPlus's own rules and search, labelled as not AI. Either way, plans go through the same Trip Reality Check, and AI answers may only repeat facts from KenyaPlus's checked information, with sources.
Where are my trips saved? Do I need an account?
There are no accounts. Trips are saved in your own browser on this device, so we can't see them. Clearing your browser data deletes them — use Export all on My trips to keep a copy or move them to another device.
Who can see a trip I share?
Anyone you give the link to. The trip is stored inside the link itself, after the “#”, which browsers don't send to servers — so KenyaPlus never receives it. A shared link is a snapshot; share a new one after you change the trip.
Can you tell me about visas, vaccinations or safety?
For entry, our guide Entering Kenya: the eTA sets out who needs an Electronic Travel Authorisation and who is exempt, from the official portal — always confirm on etakenya.go.ke before you book. KenyaPlus doesn't hold checked information on health or safety, so it won't answer those questions; ask a doctor or travel clinic about health and check official government advice on safety.
Does KenyaPlus cost anything?
No. If paid features are added later, they will be clearly marked, and the free tools will stay useful on their own. See our disclosures.
I found something wrong. How do I tell you?
Please use the contact page. Include the page, what it should say, and an official source if you have one.
